Dr. Winkler is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist licensed to practice medicine in California. He founded and directed the Adult ADHD Clinic at Stanford University before deciding to pursue private practice full time. He writes and publishes peer-reviewed and award winning work in psychiatry and neuroscience, and regularly presents new work at major academic conferences. He is a member of the  “APSARD National Guidelines Taskforce” currently working to create guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD in adults in the United States. Dr. Winkler majored in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Philosophy at Washington University in St. Louis, completed the Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate program at Columbia University in New York, and went to medical school at Wake Forest School of Medicine in North Carolina. He trained in psychiatry at the University of Maryland / Sheppard Pratt Combined Psychiatry Residency Program in Baltimore, did a post-residency psychiatry fellowship in University and College Mental Health at Stanford University in Palo Alto, and completed the three-year core training in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy at the Washington School of Psychiatry.
When he is not seeing helping patients or working to improve care for adults with ADHD, Dr. Winkler enjoys playing music, riding a OneWheel, and is the proud father of 9-year-old twins and a 6-year-old.
